“I’m Larry Williams. I’ve had an active interest in the Construction Machinery Industry for more than 40 years.
In the late 80”s, I was heavily involved in the daily management of my equipment rental business (Heavy Equipment Coordinators), consisting of 20 elevating scrapers, some rubber tired and track dozers and a couple Cat 12 motor graders. With these machines I helped to serve the So. Cal. Construction and Grading Industry. It was a very busy time and sometime difficult to cover all the bases of managing an equipment rental operation. Because of demanding project schedules, I was making, on-site, major component repairs and exchanges. This work was done in the wind and dust, mud and any number of questionable contaminates, which could ruin a component and certainly effect the quality of a field repair.
Rick DeAndero walked into my office one day and asked if I would be willing to let him rebuild my power train components. Rick had just started a component repair business called American Independent Repair, along with his partner, and friend, Butch Eckhoff. Rick seemed like a nice guy and inasmuch as I was having some issues caused by rebuilding components in the field and since Rick had rented a suitable shop type facility, which would certainly provide a much cleaner environment to rebuild my Cat components, I decided to take a chance and agreed to have Rick do my component rebuilding. For the rest of the years that I operated my rental business, American did all of my rebuilds, or exchanges. I never looked back. I found the workmanship to be first rate, the pricing fair and the back-up or support of any of the services provided by American to be solid and certainly to my satisfaction.
I retired my rental business years later and have continued to promote American Independent in any way I can. As long as I am connected with the Construction Machinery Industry, I will continue to promote the products of American Independent. American has grown tremendously since those early years because of the quality of their work and the integrity of their warranty support. I found a couple of long-time friends with Rick and Butch. This relationship has grown to more than just a business relationship. This relationship has become a very good personal relationship.
